CBD Pain Relief Products

If you have chronic pain, or pain from other health problems such as arthritis, cancer, or migraines, CBD could be an excellent option to prescription medication if those haven't helped you in the past. Several studies show that CBD can be useful for reducing pain from these conditions; we'll discuss those studies in this article.

What kind of pain can CBD reduce?

CBD can reduce chronic pain, inflammation, and general discomfort related to health conditions.

How to CBD relieves chronic pain.

We all have an endocannabinoid system. Some people think CBD interacts with the endocannabinoid receptors in your brain and the immune system. The receptors use the responses they receive to relieve the pain you're experiencing.

Studies about pain from cancer

A study conducted in 2016 looked at how well CBD helped treat pain in rats that had arthritis. The rats received applications of CBD gel for four consecutive days. Different rats received different amounts - either .6, 3.1, 6.2 or 62.3 mg. The researches noticed less inflammation and the amount of pain they had in their affected joints. They showed no obvious side effects. Rats that got small doses of .6 or 3.1 mg CBD gel didn't show less pain. The results showed that 6.2 mg a day was enough to reduce the rats' pain and swelling. Also, rats who got 62.3 mg per day had similar results to the rats who got 6.2 mg per day. Just because they got a larger dose, they didn't have less pain. The researches concluded that the CBD's anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving effects could benefit people with arthritis, but more human testing needs to be done.

Can CBD help people who have cancer?

CBD can also benefit people who have cancer. Research on mice has shown that CBD can help shrink cancerous tumors. In addition, a study conducted in 2010 showed that oral sprays with a combination of THC and CBD extract used along with opioids could help reduce cancer-related pain. Another study conducted in 2013 on THC and CBD oral spray had a similar finding; however more evidence is still needed.

Migraine pain relief

There are few studies about CBD's effect on migraines. One study from 2017 that shows that CBD can reduce pain in people with migraines when it's paired with THC. In this study, some participants took a combination of two compounds orally. One contained 9% CBD and almost no THC. The other had 19% THC. In the first phase, there was no effect on pain when the doses were less than 100 mg. When they increased the amounts to 200 mg, acute pain decreased by 55%. In the second phase, participants who received a CBD/THC combination saw fewer migraine attacks - the frequency fell by 40.4%.

If you've tried prescription medication to manage pain from your condition and have been unsuccessful with it, talk to your doctor about possibly trying CBD products. The data from studies is limited now, but the findings from the studies that have been done are promising, so CBD could be useful for treating your pain.
